Duties: Incumbent reports to the Residential Security Coordinator and is part of the Regional Security Office. Technician independently installs, repairs, and maintains all residential security related equipment at 35+ USG owned/leased residential properties. Conducts security surveys and maintains databases of residential security equipment. Serves as point of contact with the GSO housing section, residents, landlords, and contractors regarding installation and maintenance of RSO security equipment and provides recommendations on ordering needs. Incumbent serves as an incidental operator of official vehicles and meets all requirements outlined in 14 FAM 433. Installs, maintains, and repairs residential security equipment to include, but not limited to: alarm systems, locks, deadbolts, exterior security lighting, peep holes, substantial doors, perimeter barriers, anti-climb apparatus, window grilles and escape releases to Overseas Policy Board (OSPB), Foreign Affairs Manual (FAM), and Foreign Affairs Handbook (FAH) security standards. Provides 24-hour assistance to COM residents in the event of technical failure of security equipment. Coordinates with third-party contractors to obtain quotes for services and equipment, schedules work with contractors, verifies contractors' work is completed to OSPB and FAM/FAH standards and ensures contractor is compensated in a timely manner. Education Requirements: Education Completion of High School and at least one year of occupational training in any building trade is required. Qualifications: Experience : A combined minimum of 3 years' experience in any of the following fields of work: installing alarm systems, electrical device repairs, general repair services at a commercial building, or mechanical/electrical system installations is required. Language: Good Working Knowledge in speaking/reading/writing English is required. This may be tested. Job Knowledge: Good knowledge of verbal and written instructions from supervisor, equipment and user manuals. Job holder must have a good knowledge of where to procure goods and services in the country. Must have knowledge of maintenance and repair of alarm systems, electrical devices, and mechanical/electrical system installations in accordance with US and host country regulations. Job holder is expected to have an in-depth knowledge of various activities as it pertains to his/her work area. Incumbent must be well-versed in residential security concepts including perimeters alarm systems and security grills. Skills And Abilities: Skills And Abilities: Must be able to effectively correspond in spoken and written English on an advanced level as well as fully comprehend security technical manuals and instructions in English. Incumbent must be proficient in the safe use of relevant security tools and equipment. Basic numerical skills required to make regular calculations when on the field or when doing installations of equipment. Must be able to lift moderately heavy tools, equipment or parts (25 kg). Incumbent must be proficient in the use of computer applications especially MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, and database programs. These may be tested.
