Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Communications Officer to join our team in Sierra Leone. The Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies to promote Save the Children's work in Sierra Leone. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communications, excellent writing and editing skills, and experience in working with media and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to promote Save the Children's work in Sierra Leone
  • Write and edit high-quality content for various channels, including social media, press releases, and reports
  • Build and maintain relationships with media and other stakeholders to promote Save the Children's work
  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of Save the Children's programs and activities in Sierra Leone
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding
  • Provide support to the Country Director and other senior staff on communication-related matters

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in communications, preferably in an international development context
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality content under tight deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and ability to develop and implement effective social media strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with media and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Fluency in English, with excellent writing and speaking skills
  • Ability to travel frequently, with a valid passport and willingness to work in a challenging environment
